SO,What’s new in iOS 6-:
- Apple’s Own Maps App- Getting around with your iPhone will be an experience by itself now, with spoken directions and turn-by-turn navigation, real-time crowdsourced traffic updates, Quick routes and re-routing options, Yelp-powered details on nearby businesses and more. One of the highlights of this feature would be Flyover, a 3D rendition of buildings and major landmarks for a close-up interactive 3D view of cities around the world. But it’s a complete failure for IOS 6. It ousts Google Maps as the iPhone’s default mapping software.The lack of accurate public transport information in many major cities was among the biggest failures of the new Maps app.
- Sensible & Smarter SIRI-: With iOS 6, Siri understands more languages and works in more countries. So you can get more things done in more places around the world. Siri knows all answers about everything like your sports, movie, restros and showtimes. New features for the iOS 6 version of Siri include linkage with Facebook and Twitter. Yes, you can post your thoughts online just by speaking them out loud.
- Intelligent Facebook integration-Share photos from the Camera app, locations from Maps, links from Safari, high scores from Game Center, and more. Or post a status update from Notification Center or with Siri. That means you never leave any app and you share your things on largest social network
- Shared photo stream-Share photos with the people you want to share with via the iCloud on an iOS 6 device. A new feature will let you create cool 360-degree panoramic photos. The iPhone does all the work, stitching the photos together. iCloud users will also like the ability to immediately “stream” their photos to the web as soon as they are taken. This is a great way to immediately back up all the photos you take, but of course it comes with an iCloud service fee.
- Passbook App-Passbook is a new app that captures all your store membership discount cards, tickets, and coupons. This way you don’t have to carry around a bunch of paper.Passbook will even alert you to make sure you’re not relaxing in the wrong terminal.
- Better Face Time-Phone numbers and Apple IDs are unified in iOS 6 and FaceTime is now cellular, so if someone calls you via your phone number on FaceTime, you can answer on your iOS device or on your Mac. Messages sent to your iOS device also updates in real-time to your iPad and Mac.
- VIP Mail- e-mail app has a handy tool called VIP. You can mark any sender as “important,” and anytime you get a message from them, the e-mail will be put in a special VIP folder, and you’ll be alerted to it.
Having said all that, if you want the update, it’s easy to do: Just go to the “Settings” app on your device and look for the updates section. Owners of older devices may need to plug it in to their computer and iTunes to perform the update, something I recommend anyway so you can do a backup at the same time.
