GPRS Data on iOS 8.0.2

Apple recently updated iOS to 8.0.2 and disable the ability to change carrier data plan to 2g anymore Which causing fast battery draining and 3g data usage. Well this leads to large amount of disappointment on Apple fans. Anyways today in this post i will show you tutorial on how you can get back the option for turning on 2g data on your iOS device ( iPhone iPhone 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6 Plus) running ios 8.0.2.

There’s no response regarding the inconvenience from apple lately. But we can expect the fix on newer release of ios 8.1. Till that time you can just follow up this post and get your 2G/EDGE/GPRS Data working on your device again.

Follow Simple 6 Steps Below :

Step 1 : Download iFunbox on your Mac/Windows link : http://dl.i-funbox.com/

Step 2 : Download the ipa patch from here : http://goo.gl/BMkotT

Step 3 : Connect your iPhone running iOS 8.0.2 to iFunbox

Step 4 : Now install ipa Patch using ifunbox

Step 5 : Open patch on iphone

Step 6 : Tap on “Open the patch” on app

Then you are done ! After all patching you will see network change and 3G will turn to 2g 🙂

Just By tapping “Close the patch” turn on 3g again.

will this work with Airtel India ? asking because on iPhone 5c & 5s there has been no 3G toggle since iOS 7 as Airtel uses a different technology for 3G/LTE

    Hey, Sorry, forgot to mention – waited & downloading iOS 8.1 right now. Hope it works with that, in case i need it. Spoke to Airtel support today – they suggested downgrading my data plan to 2G – simply because 3G connectivity in my area is not adequate & drains the battery very quickly, will do that after a couple of days.

        I called Apple Authorised Service Center, since i was having battery drain issues on Airtel 3G. They advised against using any 3rd party App, as it might cause other issues – consume extra battery/RAM, collect user data without permission or break some functionality in the phone. Thoughts ?

        You dont have to worry about all those things. It will not cause any problem. It is just a small patch to change a network. I have been using it since ios 8.0.2 released so far i faced no issue regarding battery drainage and some sort of lag on device due to extra resource usage. If you facing installing and activating patch let me know i will create demo video.

        I’m having trouble with 8.1 – scrolling within Settings App & under Cellular, scrolling also jerky within Notes, bad/slow WiFi connectivity, call drops & network signal fluctuation. So will Restore from backup again & after operations are stable, will try the patch. Good job on the tutorial though 🙂

Does this work with iOS 8.1, too?
LTE-certified Carriers do not get the 2G/3G-Switch. 🙁

Works on iPhone 5 iOS8.1.1. Transfered the IPA file to my iPhone via iTunes and used Filza (from Cydia) to install the IPA. THANKS!!
